Some people with lyme disease will have flu-like symptoms with or without a rash. These symptoms are considered stage one lyme disaease symptoms and commonly appear 1-4 weeks after the transmission has taken place.

Heart, nervous system, and joint symptoms may be the first signs of Lyme disease in people who did not have a rash or other symptoms of early infection.

These stage one lyme disease symptoms may include:

  • Fatigue, which is the most common symptom
  • Headache and stiff neck
  • Fever and chills
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Slight stiffness in the joints around the bite/rash area

The best time to begin a full treatment protocols for Lyme disease is within the first 1-4 weeks after infection. Lyme disease treatments, alternatives, and recommended protocols can be found in this article.

Stage Two Lyme Disease Symptoms:

If Lyme disease is not detected and treated while in the early stages, if may spread throughout the body into the skin, joints and nervous system while also attacking the brain, heart and other major organs. It is urgent to initiate and continue treatment for lyme disease as soon as possible.

The second stage of lyme disease is considered between 4-8 weeks after initial infection.

▸ Stage Two Lyme Disease Symptoms:

  • Increased levels of fatigue
  • Additional skin rashes appearing in throughout the body as the infection spreads

Eventually up to 60% of patients with untreated infections also have arthritis symptoms with intense joint pain and swelling, most often in the knees. For a small percentage of infected victims, chronic neurological issues occur, including numbness in the hands or feet and shrot term memory loss.

Even with treatment, some victims of lyme diase have chronic symptoms that last months and years and include fatigue, ongoing muscle and joint pain, and arthritis.
